How Great Thou Art

Theme for a song. In memory of pappy

Written by Nathan Funk

We were walking through the fields of Oklahoma

Counting cattle and loading alfalfa

Shooting frogs and fishing in the river

Playing in the creek and splashing in the summer breeze

To the song of the katydid and cricket

We were opening our hearts to the bigger song.

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

How great Thou art, how great Thou art

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee

How great Thou art, how great Thou art

The smell of diesel and an old John Deere

The sound of tall footsteps approaching near

To hear his stories was to travel to a better time

A time when the pace was slow and he was faster

The wheat is cut and plowing time is here

The explosion of color as the sun to the ground draws near

As the wheels of life keep turning, from angels I hear

The song that takes me to a time and place that we are near.

Nathan, you have taken memories of him from our senses and placed them in our hearts! Thank you!
