OBITUARY
Chiddix died Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at the Carnegie Tri-County Hospital after a sudden illness. He was born on April 8, 1933 at Lawton, the son of Thomas B. and Ova Leona (Fairley) Chiddix. He attended school in Lawton and served as an MP in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After managing a Safeway store he purchased Don's Supermarket in Mountain View and operated it until he retired in 1994. He began farming and ranching. Chiddix was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a Sunday School superintendent. He also was a member of Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce in Mountain View and of the Kiwanis and Toastmasters in Oklahoma City. He was married to Bobbie Joan Dexter on Nov. 9. 1949 in Lawton. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery under the direction of the Hackney Funeral Home in Mountain View.
Survivors include his wife, Joan, of Mountain View; a son, Earl Chiddix and his wife Bev, of Yarbrough; two daughters. Leona Funk and her husband, Dwayne, of Clinton, Patricia Lightfoot and her husband, Bo, of Weatherford; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Preceeding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a brother, David Chiddix; and a grandchild.

Funeral services for Don Chiddix, age 68, Mountain View resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church at Mountain View with Rev. Jack Brown officiating.
